Sherry Hood is a Clinical lecturer in the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of
Medicine and Dentistry and a "Scholar" within the Integrative Health Institute,
University of Alberta.
Sherry is the founder of the Pacific institute of Advanced Hypnotherapy. Her
course has been approved as a post graduate elective in family medicine.
Sherry has presented medical hypnotherapy at national medical conferences.
She has completed a university pilot study for smoking cessation, using her
protocol. The findings were presented at the Alberta Scientific Assembly.
She is the author of 13 published medical hypnotherapy articles and has
co-authored the Hypnotic Women book. To date she has logged over 15,000
classroom hours teaching her course.
Sherry has presented at national medical conferences, other hypnotherapy groups,
and mentoring groups.
Her interests include the application of hypnotherapy to clinical problems,
specifically pain management and cancer care, maternity care including labour and
delivery, smoking cessation, fears and phobias, pre and post-operative care,
wound healing and hypnoanesthesia. Sherry has a keen affinity for working with
children.
In 2012 Sherry was awarded "Educator of the Year" by the IMDHA.
In 2014 Sherry was honored to be the first hypnotherapist to receive membership
in the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
At the IMDHA-IACT 2016 HypnoExpo in Daytona Beach, Sherry Hood was
awarded "Life Fellow in Hypnotherapy" in recognition of her contributions to
hypnotherapy.
